Yes, a tampon could 'break' your hymen but it's nothing to be too concerned about. Usually the hymen (which is just a thin little layer of skin) is worn down gradually so by the time you put a tampon in it will likely already be much thinner. Doing various physical activities (horseback riding, riding bikes, climbing trees, or even dancing) can also tear your hymen.
